Background: BIRD (Batch Im Rechenzentrum Desy) is a general purpose batch facility run by DESY IT. Within the NAF project, many hardware ressources were put into it, so NAF users can use large fractions of this facility. However, also non-NAF DESY groups are using BIRD and contributing hardware to it.
