P02.1 - Public : Beamtime Data Processing Resources

THIS INFORMATION IS OUTDATED AND HAS TO BE UPDATED...

P02.1 provides a number of resources to make processing and analysing your data easier.

Data Analysis Files

At the start of a beamtime beamline staff can copy some support files into the /gpfs/current/shared directory using the setup_beamtime.sh script. The following files are then available:

  • Generic powder diffraction integration pipeline
  • Detector Mask file
  • merge.py 2d data merging script (see below)

These can also be downloaded by anyone with a web browser at: www.desy.de/~wharmby/support

DAWN

DAWN is a software suite produced by Diamond Light Source which we use at the beamline to analyse/reduce diffraction data. The software is installed on the Linux PCs and Windows in the control hutch (not the left most Linux machine or the detector PC). DAWN is also available for free to download from the website: www.dawnsci.org

To learn more about how DAWN works, there are a number of videos available on the website and in fact there is a YouTube channel!

If you do make use of DAWN, please consider citing the software with one or both of the references:

Using DAWN

DAWN is divided into collections of tools called Perspectives. A Perspective can be opened by clicking on the New Perspective Button in the top right of the DAWN window. Recently used perspectives remain quickly accessible in the area near this button. There are three Perspectives which are used commonly on P02.1:

  • Processing - for integrating diffraction data
  • DataVis - for visualising 2d or 1d (or indeed 3d!) data
  • Powder Calibration - (principally used by beamline staff only) for determining wavelength, sample-to-detector distance etc.

For the integration procedure a number of files have been set up by staff for you including:

  • A generic processing pipeline
  • Detector masks
  • Calibration metadata (this is prepared on a per beamtime basis)

Information on where these files are stored is given above.
