P02.1 - Public : Publication Rules & Acknowledgements

For data which was measured at beamline P02.1 and which is published in any form (articles, thesis, posters, talks, etc) you have to follow the DESY Photon Science publication rules. The rules state that you must acknowledge the beamline at which the experiment was conducted as well as beamline staff assisting for the support of your experiment / data collection.

Publication Acknowledgement

The rules require the use of the following text, included in the acknowledgement of the paper:

"We acknowledge DESY (Hamburg, Germany), a member of the Helmholtz Association HGF, for the provision of experimental facilities. Parts of this research were carried out at PETRA III and we would like to thank <BEAMLINE SCIENTIST NAME> for assistance in using beamline P02.1. Beamtime was allocated for proposal(s) <PROPOSAL ID(s)>."

In case one of the beamline scientists is a co-author on your paper, this text can be altered to the following:

"We acknowledge DESY (Hamburg, Germany), a member of the Helmholtz Association HGF, for the provision of experimental facilities. Parts of this research were carried out at PETRA III beamline P02.1."

in addition you have to state either

"Beamtime was allocated for proposal(s) <PROPOSAL ID(s)>."

or

"Beamtime was allocated by an In-House contingent."

If you are unsure which of the above-mentioned cases apply to you, please contact your beamline scientist.

Travel Cost Acknowledgement

Where travel costs have been reimbursed this should be also be acknowledged. Please use the following text for DESY:

"We acknowledge DESY (Hamburg, Germany), a member of the Helmholtz Association HGF, for the support with travel costs."

Or for the EU, via CALIPSOplus:

"We acknowledge CALIPSOplus (integrated activity within the Horizon2020 project of the European Union), for the support with travel costs."

If you are unsure which of the above-mentioned cases apply to you, please contact your beamline scientist.

Should you make use of equipment provided by other users / user groups please include the following texts to acknowledge it accordingly:

In situ sample holder for the Linkam furnace

"We would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Erhard Schafler (Faculty of Physics, University Vienna) for providing the in situ sample holder used in this work."

Acknowledgement of equipment provided by P02.1 for use at other beamlines

If you have been using equipment provided by P02.1 at different beamlines, please use the following text to acknowledge this accordingly.

Biologic VMP-3 potentiostat

"This work was performed by using the Biologic VMP-3 potentiostat of DESY/PETRA III beamline P02.1"

Biologic VMP-3 potentiostat

"This work was performed by using the Biologic VMP-300 potentiostat of DESY/PETRA III beamline P02.1"

If you are unsure which of the above mentioned cases apply to you, please contact your beamline scientist.
