Switch on procedure

  1. Place the ACU on the right behind (or next to) the AHCAL stack (looking in the direction of the beam)
  2. Close all(!) valves. The ACU must not be connected to power. The pressure at P should be zero.
  3. Fill CU1 and CU2 with clean tap water (open little lids with 4 M5 screws on top) until water level reaches the indicated maximum
  4. connect the two tubes (with VinA, VoutA, VinB and VoutB closed). Don't forget the seals (little green rings in toolbox)!
  5. switch OFF(!!!) P1 and P2 with the switches at the pumps
  6. connect the ACU to power with the 16A CEEKON connector
  7. start the ACU by pressing the green ON button. P1 and P2 should not start. CU1 and CU2 should start. Make sure that the fans on the CUs start (you can feel the air flow). If not, remove the black plastic cover carefully, and give the fan a little kick. The one with the white tape has problems regularly.
  8. Open valves V1.1, V1.2 and V1.3 on CU1. Check if water is flowing.
  9. Open valves V2.1, V2.2 and V2.3 on CU2. Check if water is flowing.
  10. After 5 minutes, check water level of CU1 and CU2, refill if necessary.
  11. Open valves V1.4, V2.4 and V2.5.
  12. Close V2.3, open VP carefully until P shows 1 bar. Then close VP again, and open V2.3 again.
  13. Check water level of CU2, refill if necessary.
  14. Open VinA and VoutA.
  15. Carefully open VinB, close again after 30 seconds
  16. Carefully open VoutB, close again after 30 seconds
  17. Switch on P1 with switch on the pump
  18. Carefully open VinB, carefully open VoutB.
  19. Switch on P2 with switch on the pump
  20. Let ACU run for 15 minutes, check temperature, flowing of water, water levels, possible leakage
  21. Stop ACU with red OFF button
  22. remove air from the system by carefully opening and closing the little black air valves above the connected tubes. Check pressure, P should show 1 bar. If not, see steps 24 to 27.
  23. Start ACU with green ON button 
  24. Switch off P1 and P2 with the switches at the pumps
  25. Close V2.3, open VP carefully until P shows 1 bar. Then close VP again, and open V2.3 again.
  26. Check water level of CU2, refill if necessary.
  27. Switch on P1 and P2 with the switches at the pumps
  28. Let ACU run, check temperature, flowing of water, water levels, possible leakage
  29. repeat steps 21 to 28 until P stable at 1 bar, and little or no air bubbles in the small cooling tubes connecting to the layers

Switch off procedure

  1. stop the ACU by pressing the red OFF button. Pumps P1, P2, CU1 and CU2 stop
  2. switch off the two pumps P1 and P2 with the switches at the pumps
  3. disconnect the ACU from power (16 A CEEKON connector), and fix the cable to the ACU
  4. open the valves VP and V2.5. Now the pressure at P should be zero
  5. close the valves VP and V2.5
  6. close the valves VinA and VoutA
  7. close the valves VinB and VoutB
  8. disconnect the water tubes between Vin and Vout. Store the seals (little green rings) in the toolbox. Fix the tubes to the ACU.
  9. close the valves V1.1 and V1.2
  10. close the valves V2.1 and V2.2
  11. remove the water from the two chiller units CU1 and CU2 by gently pulling out the two small tubes with the water level indicator. For transport by crane remove roughly half of the water, otherwise everything. Re-attach the small tubes.
  12. close all valves
